It’s been 18 years since Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss’ journey in The Matrix ended in ‘Revolution’… or so we thought as now the duo return in ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ which will grace the big screens and stream on HBO this Christmas. December 22 to be exact.
Keanu Reeves returns as
Neo Thomas in the latest instalment of an iconic Action/Sci-Fi film franchise which was directed by The Wachowskis. Jada Pinkett-Smith will also return in her role as Niobe.
This new take on The Matrix, however, will not see Laurence Fishburne playing Morpheus. That role will be portrayed this time by ‘Aquaman’ and ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ star, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Also not involved in ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ is Hugo Weaving’s Agent Smith – guess no resurrection for him. Film director, Lilly (formerly Andy) Wachowski will also not be part of this one. Rather, Lana (formerly Larry) Wachowski alone will be at the director’s helm.
Some of the new faces in the fourth of The Matrix film series include Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Nigerian-American star Toby Onwumere, Jessica Henswick, Christina Ricci and Jonathan Gross.
For a film series that greatly impacted the Hollywood industry, do you believe ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ will be able to keep up with the bar set by the original trilogy?
