The Everton star is surprisingly not in the squad that will face the Benin Republic in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier
Alex Iwobi has been left out of Nigeria squad for the clash against Benin at the Charles de Gaulle Stadium after he tested positive for Coronavirus.
Although Iwobi travelled with the squad on Friday, he returned a positive test, which was conducted just before the clash.
The Everton star was then removed from the squad, and he’s also a doubt for the game against Lesotho on Tuesday at the Teslim Balogun stadium.
Iwobi’s absence won’t matter, though, as the Super Eagles have already secured qualification for the nations cup in Cameroon next year.
This was confirmed after Lesotho and Sierra Leone played a goalless draw in the other Group L encounter. However, Gernot Rohr’s men can seal the top spot with a win over Benin.
