Werner should be dropped for this Chelsea star against Leicester [OPINION]

Thomas Tuchel has shown tremendous support for Timo Werner since he took charge at Chelsea but it is time for him to drop the German for Tammy Abraham.

The former RB Leipzig forward has flopped since he signed for the Blues, scoring just six goals in 33 Premier League appearances under two separate managers Tuchel and Frank Lampard.

The struggle for goals have affected the confidence of the player and Tuchel’s blind trust in the player is affecting the team negatively as they fall away from their main competitions this season.

Tuchel has built a team that is hard to beat but their lack of goals is hurting the team, just like experienced against Leicester City at the weekend where they dominated possession but failed to score.

Timo as the main man in attack is not producing results and must be changed if Chelsea want to make the UEFA Champions League next season with Liverpool breathing down their necks in fifth place with 63points, just one adrift Chelsea and two games to the end of the season.

Under Lampard, Tammy became Chelsea’s second-youngest player to hit 20 Premier League goals, behind only Eden Hazard and interestingly, he was the first English player to finish as Chelsea’s top scorer since Lampard himself.

It was a progress for the young striker who had finished the previous season with 25goals in loan at Aston Villa but Tuchel has stubbornly left him out of the team and they need goals.

Chelsea need to beat Leicester City at Stamford Bridge to brighten their chances for Champions League qualification with the two Manchester clubs haven sealed the other two slots, leaving Leicester, Liverpool and Thomas Tuchel’s men to fight for the last two spot.

Tuchel will be making a big mistake trusting low confident Werner to carry Chelsea burden for goals against Leicester, who are high in spirit after winning the Emirates FA Cup for the first time ever.
