Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen scored as he helped the Super Eagles come from a goal down to defeat Cape Verde in the second World Cup qualifying match.
It was Cape Verde who broke the deadlock in the 20th minute after Dylan Tavares beat the offside line from a Roberto Lopez long ball, and Tavares blasted a shot to the near post, beating a poorly positioned Maduka Okoye.
Ten minutes later, Victor Osimhen levelled for Nigeria, after Cape Verde keeper, Evora Dias stopped Kevin Pires from scoring an own goal from a Jamilu Collins cross, but Osimhen scored from the rebound to make it 1-1.
The Super Eagles took the lead in the 77th minute of the game, when Cape Verde midfielder, Rocha Santos sent a high long ball from the middle of the park, and the ball chipped even his goalkeeper, who tried to clear off the line, but he could not stop the own goal to give Nigeria a 2-1 lead.
Nigeria now sit top of Group C with six points from the first two games, while Cape Verde are third, with one point. Liberia are second, following their 1-0 win over the Central Africa Republic, who are bottom of the group with just one point.
