The Portuguese champions have been handed a huge blow ahead of their showdown against Chelsea in Europe’s biggest club competition
Porto will be without the services of their top scorers Sérgio Oliveira and Mehdi Taremi for the first leg of their Champions League clash against Chelsea at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
The two players are suspended for the encounter following their bookings in the second round clash against Juventus.
Taremi was sent off in the second leg of the clash against Juventus while Oliviera’s accumulation of yellow cards in the competition automatically rules him out of tomorrow’s clash.
The Dragons will also be without Malang Sarr as he is ineligible to play against his parent club. While UEFA’s rule allows a player on loan to feature against his parent club should they meet in any of the two club competitions, it appears Chelsea inserted a clause that prevents Sarr from playing against them.
Sarr joined Chelsea from Nice last summer, but was immediately loaned out to the Portuguese champions. Meanwhile, Chelsea have injury problems of their own as they will be without Ngolo Kante while Christian Pulisic is a major doubt.
The first leg and second leg of the encounter will take place at Sevilla stadium due to the Covid-19 restriction rules imposed by Portugal and the UK.
