ABZ looks at the biggest performing Nigerians in the world of football at the weekend, including the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), and below are the selected Naija superstars who stood out over the weekend.
Dennis Emmanuel | The Abuja-born forward joined an elite group with his goal for Watford in the 4-2 loss against Leicester City. He became the first Watford player to score five goals and provide five assists in his first 12 Premier League matches or fewer games, and only the sixth player ever in the league to achieve that feat.
Joe Aribo | The London-born midfielder looks to be getting back to form and in Ranger’s 3-1 away win over Livingston, Aribo scored an eye-popping goal, as he curled in a left-footed shot from outside the box to give his side a 2-0 lead. He has now scored four goals in 14 league appearances this season.
Samuel Chukwueze | The Umuahia-born winger scored his first La Liga goal of the season, in Villarreal’s 3-1 home loss to Barcelona. The Super Eagles star came on in the second half and scored his third goal in four games against the Catalan giants, but he could not help the Yellow Submarine salvage a point.
