Tokyo 2020: Nigeria finally secure a medal at the Olympics

Blessing Oborodudu wins her 68kg semifinal bout against Mongolia’s Battsetseg Soronzonbold 7-2, and that means she is guaranteed a medal, either gold or silver.

Oborududu defeated Elis Manolova of Azerbaijan 13-2 in her opening match of wrestling. She fought hard to beat Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova 3-2 in the next round.

The 32-year-old has now won her semifinal bout against Battsetseg Soronzonbold and is guaranteed a medal at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

This will be Nigeria’s first medal at this edition of the games, and it will also be Nigeria’s first-ever medal in wrestling at the Olympics.
