Tokyo 2020: Adegoke ends 25-year jinx to qualify for 100m final

Nigeria’s rising star Enoch Olaoluwa Adegoke has qualified for the final of the 100m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, ending the 25-year wait for the nation.

In the semifinal, the 21-year-old finished second with a time of 10.00s in heat 2 of men’s 100m semis to become the first Nigerian to reach 100m Olympic final since 1996.

Davidson Ezinwa was the last Nigerian to compete in the 100m final of the Olympics when he qualified for the final of Atlanta 1996.

Adegoke, who is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, burst into the scene in 2018 at the commonwealth games, and since then, he has competed at the Africa Games, National Sports Festival and now, the Olympics.
