Francis Uzoho was expected to make an appearance in one of Nigeria’s two friendly matches against Cameroon in Austria, but it was not meant to be as it was Maduka Okoye who kept goal for the Super Eagles in both games.
Speaking after the goalless draw on Tuesday at Wiener Neustadt Stadion in Austria’s capital, Vienna, Rohr revealed Uzoho had told him he would be unable to face the Indomitable Lions as he was nursing a leg injury.
Rohr did go on to state that Uzoho’s injury was a minor one picked up during training and it was decided not to risk aggravating it further by featuring him in the friendly encounter.
The Super Eagles coach went on to praise the team for putting in a good shift despite the absence of a number of first team regulars due to injuries.
Rohr highlighted that Moses Simon ended up playing out of position as a left back due to the injuries in the team and praised the team for keeping a clean sheet this time against Cameroon.
