Former Super Eagles and Arsenal forward, Kanu Nwankwo, has said the Gunners’ decision to sell Alex Iwobi to Everton surprised him.
Iwobi, who came through the Arsenal academy was sold to Everton in the summer of 2019. According to the BBC, he was sold for an initial fee of £28m, rising to £34m with potential add-ons.
Speaking to Ladbrokes (via Metro), Kanu said: “I was surprised they let Alex Iwobi go when they did.
“He was supposed to be a part of this team and I think they’d be a better team with him in it. He’s Arsenal blood and he’s always given his all for the team.
“He plays at an international level. I believe he’d be much more comfortable in this Arsenal team than he is in the Everton team.”
Iwobi has played 33 games for Everton this season.
