Bordeaux winger, Samuel Kalu has declared that the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon ‘were lucky’ after they ran away 1-0 winners over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly on Friday night in Austria.
The 23-year-old midfield dazzler missed the encounter due to injury as Fulham star Andre Anguissa’s right foot shot beat Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye from 25yards.
Speaking to Teamnigeriauk via a live Instagram interview, Kalu said: ‘The Super Eagles did very well. We had a lot of shots on target but did not score, they had few and scored. They were just lucky. It was their day.
‘Paul (Onuachu) missed a great chance. Moses Simon volleyed wide in front of an open net. So, if he had scored maybe we would’ve been talking about something different by now.’
Interestingly, the Super Eagles had six shots on target and 15 off target while Cameroon had just three off target and scored from the only one they had on target. Gernot Rohr and his boys will have another opportunity for a swift revenge when both sides meet again in Vienna, Austria on Tuesday.
