Super Eagles Update: Aribo Doubtful For Lesotho tie, Iwobi Returns

The Rangers star played the entire duration of the win against Benin, but he is a major doubt for the clash against Lesotho

Super Eagles could be without the services of Joe Aribo for their final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho, but Alex Iwobi has been cleared.

Aribo was on the pitch for the whole 90 minutes in the win over the Benin Republic last Saturday. But Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr revealed the Rangers star could miss the clash against the Crocodiles due to a stomach problem.

However, there’s good news for Nigeria after Alex Iwobi was cleared for the encounter. The Everton winger had missed the win over Benin after testing positive for coronavirus.

But Rohr questioned the authenticity of the results and revealed Iwobi would undergo another test in Nigeria. Those doubts were confirmed as Iwobi tested negative for the virus.

The 24-year-old could now feature in Nigeria’s final 2021 Afcon qualifier. The three-time African champions are already assured of qualification and top spot in their group.
