Super Eagles and Watford midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo is set to miss the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, following a serious injury.
Etebo picked up the injury in Watford’s Premier League clash against Newcastle, before being substituted in the 75th minute.
The 25-years-old has suffered a torn quad muscle, and he is expected to be out for four to five months, which could rule him out of the African showpiece in January.
The Premier League side confirmed the injury in a statement, saying: “Midfielder Peter Etebo tore a quad muscle towards the end of the Newcastle United game last weekend and is expected to be out for between four to five months.”
Etebo has already been left out of Gernot Rohr’s list for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Central Africa Republic next month, and he will hope to recover in time for the AFCON.
