Ahead of Saturday’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African qualifying match against the Lone Star of Liberia, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has declared his readiness and also welcomed Odion Ighalo.
The Napoli forward was part of the 22 players that trained in the city of Tangier, Morocco as the three-time African Champions look to consolidate on top spot and qualify for the knockout phase of the World Cup qualifiers, set for March 2022.
‘I’m always ready when called upon and to give my all is one of the most important things in my career and of course, I’m ready come Saturday,’ Osimhen said after training.
Asked about the return of Ighalo, who is coming out of retirement to play again for the Super Eagles, he replied: ‘It feels good for the team. The Coaches and Federation know what is best for the team, so we welcome him with open hands.
`We are looking forward to receiving him in camp. He is like a big brother to me and I really love him a lot. I will learn a lot from him because I admire him so much. For me, it’s important to have him in the squad. We have a common goal – to qualify the nation for the World Cup and do well in the AFCON. So, whatever is good for the team, the coach and the federation would bring it into play.’
