Super Eagles duo, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi are set for their first pre-season match with Leicester City when they face English League One side, Burton Albion at Pirelli Stadium on Saturday.
The Foxes missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification last season when they finished fifth with 66 points with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men placed 18th in the 24-team EFL League One.
The Nigerian duo returned to preseason training last week and are buzzing ahead of the 2021/2022 season where they would have a chance to fight for European glory in the Europa League.
Ndidi would have some competition in midfield following the arrival of Boubakary Soumaré from last season’s Ligue 1 champions Lille while Iheaancho will have to compete for a starting spot with Zambian goalscoring sensation Patson Daka, who joined the former Premier League winners from Red Bull Salzburg.
Leicester City will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their opening match of the 2021/22 Premier League season at the King Power Stadium.
