The Super Eagles of Nigeria will clash with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he hoping to avoid an injury crisis as he looks forward to handing debuts to new players ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
The Nigerian players are currently training in Austria ahead of the international friendly match, although the team’s preparation has been overshadowed by the mass withdrawal of players. At least six players put themselves out of contention due to medical reasons.
Gernot Rohr held a training session with the group and told Brila.net that the training session was good. He also disclosed that he expected two players to join the 18 players he had in camp at the time of the chat.
“The training was good, we had 18 players & we’ll have 20 players tomorrow. We are trying to have a good team, we have 20 & Cameroon has 26 players for the two games, I hope we don’t have an injury crisis.” He said.
“The condition is good & the weather was okay. So many players are not here, it’s an opportunity for us to try new players and see new faces. It’s important we prepare well for our World Cup qualifiers and this is the last opportunity to do something before the qualifiers.” He concluded.
