Luis Suarez was the hero as his 97th-minute goal helped Atlético Madrid to a comeback win over AC Milan at the San Siro.
After lots of pressure, the Serie A giants scored the opening goal in the 20th minute, following a lovely touch from Real Madrid’s on-loan star, Brahim Diaz to Rafael Leão, whose low shot went past Jan Oblak.
AC Milan’s problems started, when Franck Kessie received a second yellow card after only 10 minutes, to put the Rossoneri under pressure.
The pressure from the Spanish side paid off late in the game, after prodigal son, Antoine Griezmann scored his first goal since his return to the club to level the scores in the 84th minute.
The drama was not over, as the referee pointed to the penalty spot in the 93rd minute after Thomas Lemar’s shot bounced off Pierre Kalulu’s arm. Luis Suarez stepped up to take the resulting penalty, and he slotted it down the middle to give Diego Someone’s men all three points.
AC Milan are rock bottom in Group B with zero points in two games, while Atlético Madrid are second on the log. 2019 champions, Liverpool are top of the group with six points, thanks to their 5-1 thumping of Porto, who are third.
