The Nigerian striker suffered relegation with Crotone last season, but his impressive feat means he will be playing in the top-flight again this season
Unione Sportiva Salernitana 1919 have completed the signing of Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo from relegated Crotone.
The newly-promoted side signed Simy on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for 6m euros next summer. The former Gil Vicente striker is the second Nigerian to join The Garnets this summer after they signed Joel Obi from Chievo Verona on a one-year deal.
Salernitana beat off the likes of Real Mallorca and other Italian sides for the services of the 29-year-old. They are getting a striker with a proven track record in the Italian Serie A.
The Super Eagles forward broke and set new records last season after scoring 20 league goals in Italy’s top division. He will now hope to continue in the same vein for Salernitana, who are back in the Italian top-flight for the first time in 23 years.
