Simeone Speaks On Chelsea Performance after UCL exit

Chelsea are back in the Champions League quarter-finals after defeating Atletico Madrid and the manager La Liga leaders Diego Simeone had glowing words for the Blues.

Atletico were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after losing 3-0 on aggregate to Chelsea in the round of 16.

Thomas Tuchel’s side head into last night’s game against the La Liga side with an advantage of getting a win in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Goals from summer signing Hakim Ziyech and Emerson Palmieri gave the Blues a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge as they secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone hails the rejuvenated Chelsea side under Tuchel and claimed the London side deserved the win.

“They’re deserving winners,” he said. “It was even in the first game, but they were superior today.

“We tried to press high and, at times, it worked, but other times it costed us. We tried to find other ways of getting to the goal, but we weren’t good in attack.”
