Cristiano Ronaldo scored yet again for Manchester United, but his goal was not enough as a red card for Aaron Wan-Bissaka added to their woes as Young Boys’ late strike won it for the home side.
Ronaldo gave Manchester United the lead early in the game with a 13 minutes strike from his right foot. His compatriot, Bruno Fernándes gave the assist.
Manchester United’s celebration was cut short in the 35th minute after right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka got his marching orders for a straight red.
Young Boys kept United under pressure since then, and their attack paid off, as Nicolas Ngamaleu equalized for the home side in the 66th minute from a Silvan Hefti assist.
The drama was not over as it looked like the game was going to end in a one-all draw, but Jordan Siebatcheu became the hero as he scored the winning goal of the encounter in the fifth minute of added time, after Jesse Lingard lost the ball, to win it for the Swiss champions.
Young Boys could not hope for a better start to life in the UEFA Champions League, while Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have to go back to his drawing board.
