Champions of Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) did not have a good evening match as they were beaten 3-0 by ASFARA of Morocco.
Rivers Angels became Nigeria’s first representative at the competition, but their first game in the group did not turn out as planned as the Nigerians were humiliated in their opening group game.
Sanaa Mssoudy made history by becoming the first-ever scorer in the CAF Women’s Champions League with the opening goal coming in the first half.
Sanaa then went on to become the first hat trick scorer of the competition, by adding two more goals in the second half to seal a memorable win for the north Africans.
Rivers Angels will have the opportunity to redeem themselves when they face Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, who defeated Kenya’s Vihiga Queens.
Only the top two teams in each group will qualify for the semifinal of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
