Real Madrid beat 10-man Inter to finish top while setting new records

Real Madrid defeated Inter Milan 2-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to finish top of Group D while hitting two different milestones.

Real Madrid scored the opening goal in the 17th minute, after Toni Kroos hit a shot from outside the box, to score the Blancos 1000th goal in the competition (the most by any club).

Just after one hour, Inter Milan were reduced to 10, after a moment of madness from midfielder, Nicolo Barella, punching Eder Militao’s calf, in reaction to what he felt was a rash tackle.

Just 10 minutes later, Real Madrid made it 2-0, following a beautiful curler from outside the box by substitute, Marco Asensio, the club’s 600th in the Champions League era.

Real Madrid finished the group at the top with 15 points, while Inter Milan finished second in the group with 10 points.
