Super Eagles star, John Ogu has backed the team to beat Cape Verde in their final 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Tuesday.
Nigeria host Cape Verde in their final Group C match in Lagos and a draw secures qualification into the playoffs. Ogu is confident that the team can deliver the needed victory.
He said: “Pray for the team to win against Cape Verde. No noise, we will be victorious. Wishing the team all the best on Tuesday.”
The Super Eagles have not blown teams away in recently times, playing out a sloppy 4-4 against Sierra Leone, losing at home to Central African Republic (CAR) and just last Saturday they played out an uninspiring 2-0 win over Liberia in Morocco.
The midfielder who is currently without a club is adamant that the three-time African Champions must not play beautiful football to win matches contrary to opinion of a lot of football fans that has engaged him via his various social media platforms.
“A lot of people be tagging me asking for the Super Eagles to play that whole beautiful football to win games. Listen y’all, beautiful football don’t win games this days. Winning games is the real deal . You all should support the team and the manager. Big game coming on Tuesday before playoff, ” Ogu posted on his official twitter handle.
Nigeria currently top Group C with 12 points, Cape Verde are second with 10points, Central Africa Republic (CAR) sit third with four points while Liberia are bottom with just three points.
