Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper, Tom Heaton, with Juan Mata extending his stay until June 2022.
Heaton has signed a contract that will keep him at United until the summer of 2023, with the option of another year.
35-year-old Heaton spent 13 years as a youngster at Man United and had spells at Cardiff City, Bristol City, Burnley and Aston Villa, before completing his return.
Heaton is joining United on a free transfer after his contract at Aston Villa expired.
“Reacting to the transfer, Heaton said, according to Manutd.com: “For me to have the opportunity to come back after spending 13 great years here as a kid, it’s an incredible feeling and I’m really, really excited to get started.
“I’m just seeing it as a fantastic opportunity as I still feel I’ve got an awful lot to give and I’ve got the bit between my teeth.
“I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running. I feel in great shape and I’m looking forward to coming in to compete with the other goalkeepers.”
