NPFL: Sun Shines In Akure As Rivers Drown Kano Pillars’ Unbeaten Run

The 2021 NPFL season hit the 500 goal mark with Enyimba’s Victor Mbaoma getting the honours in Aba. Lets’s review match-day 26 of the NPFL.

Ejike Uzoechi scored the all-important goal to ensure Sunshine Stars picked their first win in 18 games as the Akure-based side defeated Dakkada FC 1-0.

Enyimba FC of Aba earned a hard fought 2-1 win over league whipping boys, Adamawa United in Aba.

goals from Victor Mbaoma and Farouk Mohammed either side of Anayo Ogbonna’s equalizer for Adamawa United, saved the people’s elephant blushes in a game of too many missed chances.

“It’s more like a reoccurring decimal now, we keep wasting these opportunities. I tried as much as possible to encourage these boys, to be ruthless in front of goal. The name of the game is scoring goals. If you are creating these chances, you have got to take it. Wasting these opportunities will always re energize our opponents.”

Rivers United put a stop to Kano Pillars’ ten-match unbeaten run in the league with a 2-0 win.
a superb half volley off a turn from Sunday Adetunji and Ghana’s Paul Acquah propelled the Port Harcourt-based side to victory.

Elsewhere, A brace for Ekene Awazie in the 14th and 86th minute secured a vital 2-1 win for FC Ifeanyi Ubah against Kwara United.
Steven Jude equalised for the Harmony Boys in the 28th minute.

In Jos, Muhamad Zulkifilu’s 10th goal of the season and Buhari Ibrahim’s effort helped Plateau United to a 2-0 victory over Kastina United.
Ossy Martins scored his eight and Lobi Stars’ winning goal to pip Enugu Rangers 1-0.

Relegation threatened Wikki Tourist forced Jigawa Golden Stars to a 1-1 draw.

Saidu Abdullahi’s goal was canceled by Manu Garba.

In Lafia, Silas Nwankwo’s brace propelled Nasarawa United to a 3-1 win over Warri Wolves.
