Wilfred Ndidi was absent due to an ankle injury as Leicester City drew 3-3 with Oud-Heverlee Leuven in their first preseason game.
The Super Eagles defensive midfielder missed the final months of last season due to injury and will be hoping the latest injury is not a sign of things to come in the 2022/23 season.
However, Ndidi’s compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho was involved in the encounter which took a unique format as it witnessed two hours of football split up into three periods and Leicester City fielded 26 players, of which 22 played an hour.
The host were playing their final game of the preseason as the league in Belgium resumes earlier than the English premier league. And the match fitness should as they raced into a 2-0 lead courtesy Mousa Al-Tamari and Nachon Nsingi.
Leicester hit back as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Patson Daka levelled scores at 2-2. Iheanacho had the opportunity to make it 3-2 but was denied the Substitute goalkeeper Nordin Jackers. Before Mykola Kukharevych slotted home at the other side to restore the home lead but Jamie Vardy had the final say as his late goal made it 3-3.
Leicester City will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to the MKM Stadium to take on Hull City.
