The Nigerian international lost his mother when he was still a teenager, and he says that experience has shaped his thoughts about life
Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed that his worst fear is losing his Mom, and nothing scares him anymore now that she’s gone.
Iheanacho lost his mother when he was 16 and at the developmental stages of his career. Although it’s been nine years since her death, Iheanacho revealed she thinks about her every time and that encourages him to always work harder.
‘I think about her every day,’ he told Daily Mail ‘There is not a day I don’t remember her. I know she is in a good place now. It helps me to keep working hard every day and to keep going.
The former Manchester City man also added that he’s not been scared of anything in life following his Mother’s death.
‘My worst fear was to lose her. So there is nothing that could scare me any more in this life. So I just keep being who I am and I know she is behind me.’
Iheanacho has definitely made his mother proud, especially in the last few months. The 24-year-old scored seven times in five games last month, including a hat-trick on Mother’s day.
He also scored twice in Leicester City’s loss to West Ham last Sunday. However, he would hope to continue his rich vein of form when Leicester walk out on the Wembley pitch to take on Southampton in their FA Cup semifinal clash.
