The former Leicester City man has cited the disrespectful comments that trailed his invitation to the squad in the last window as the reason for his retirement
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has announced his shocking retirement, saying he has been disrespected despite what he has done for the country.
Musa has been a dedicated professional to the Super Eagles cause since he made his debut in 2012. The 28-year-old won the latest of his 96 caps in the 3-0 win over Lesotho on Tuesday.
However, his call-up to the squad generated a lot of controversy as he has been without a club for over five months.
But Musa took offence in the criticism and has now decided to retire from the Super Eagles. Musa insists he deserves more respect and he only honoured the invitation because he his always ready to serve his nation.
However, the Super Eagles captain has now revealed his time with the Super Eagles his over as a result of the reaction his recent call-up got.
It remains to be seen if Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr would persuade the former Kano Pillars to reconsider his decision.
Anyways, Happy April Fools day.
