Moroccan international, Hakim Ziyech was the hero on Saturday as Chelsea eliminated Manchester City to reach the FA Cup final.
The Cityzens entered the match as slight favourites with a chance to win a quadruple on the cards but the Blues has other plans with new manager Thomas Tuchel desperate to make his mark on the competition after taking over from Frank Lampard who reached the final last season.
The first half ended goalless with fans wondering if the surprise twin attack of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner would work but they proved a deadly combo in the second half as the German ran onto a pass from Mason Mount before squaring for the former Ajax star, who made no mistake with a simple tap-in on an empty goal.
Manchester City lost playmaker Kevin de Bruyne to injury and he was replaced by the inform Phil Foden. IIkay Gundogan was also introduced as Pep Guardiola encouraged his side to find a route back into the match but Chelsea held on despite losing experienced defender Thiago Silva to injury.
Chelsea will now meet the winner between Leicester City and Southampton in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium next month.
