Manchester United legend, Mark Hughes, has reacted to the performance of Donny Van de Beek after the club’s defeat to Leicester City in the FA Cup on Sunday.
United lost the game by three goals to one, with Van de Beek getting a rare appearance at the King Power Stadium.
Speaking to Stadium Astro (via MEN), Hughes said: “He’s wandering and not really getting on the ball, doesn’t know how to affect the game, can’t demand the ball of his team-mates because they’re not quite sure whether or not they have enough confidence in him.
“He looks like a guy who’s wandering around lost on the field. Okay, some of that responsibility he has to take on himself, he has to be more demonstrative, he has to be a key player.”
It remains to be seen if the Dutchman will get more playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but it doesn’t look likely at the moment.
The 23-year-old is part of the Dutch squad to face Turkey, Latvia and Gibraltar during the international break.
