Manchester United beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 at Old Trafford this evening but may be without the services of French striker Anthony Martial, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The former AS Monaco forward limped out of France’s clash with Kazakhstan during the last international break and may now be out of action for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Solskjaer said: “Unfortunately, he sprained his knee with France. It’s always when they go away on internationals… you can keep your fingers crossed and hope they come back fit.
“Losing Anthony for what might be the rest of the season is very disappointing, especially when reports from there [France] was that it wasn’t anything serious but it looks a bad one.”
Manchester United fell behind to Brighton when former striker Danny Welbeck scored for the away side but two second half goals from Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood ensured that the Red Devils stayed second with a 2-1 win.
