Super Eagles Captain, William Troost-Ekong has expressed delight after he was voted man of the match during Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau to win Group F at the ongoing 33rd Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Sadiq Umar got Nigeria’s first goal while the Watford centre-back scored the Super Eagles second goal to seal a perfect finish.
With Ekong at the heart of defense in the three matches played so far, Nigeria conceded just one goal, scoring six goals.
Speaking after the game, Ekong said: “I want to give credit to the boys for the performance today , eight changes and we still put up a good performance.
“We are happy with what we have achieved so far in this competition. We will take it game by game and keep fighting until we achieve our objective.
“Now, we wait for our opponent in the second round. Hopefully, we will keep doing well in the competition.”
Nigeria finished top of Group D with nine points, Egypt placed second with 6points while Sudan and Guinea-Bissau had a point each in third and fourth respectively.
