Man City legend picks White over Varane

Manchester City legend, Shaun Wright-Philips has revealed that he’d rather have Arsenal’s new signing, Ben White, than Raphael Varane, who is close to joining Manchester United.

23-year-old White sealed a mega-money move worth £50m to Arsenal, after he impressed at Brighton last season and under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds in 2019-20.

Manchester United, on the other hand, are finalising the signing of former Real Madrid defender, Varane, who is one of the most decorated players, but Wright-Philips believe he will struggle in England.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the former winger said: “One thing I thought Arsenal missed was a defender like him. He’s got an old-school mentality but he can play football as well.”

When asked if White is a better signing for Arsenal than Varane at United, he said: “Yes I personally do. I know it’s a big statement, but he is used to the Premier League and he is used to defending a lot for Brighton, week in, week out. Varane has come into a whole new league and he is going to put under immense pressure.”

Asked who he’d sign between both, Shaun said: “At this moment , I’d sign Ben White.”

Will do you think is better Raphael Varane and Ben White?
