Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho escaped a red card as Leicester City played out a 1-1 draw against Roma in the first leg semi-finals of the Europa League.
The game saw Brendan Rodgers compete against his former boss at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho and it was the Italian side that went in front. Lorenzo Pellegrini finished off an assist from Nicola Zalewski to hand the away side a first half advantage.
However, the Foxes bounced back with a goal in the second half. Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman was initially created with the goal but after a review it was awarded as an Gianluca Mancini own goal.
Iheanacho came on for Jamie Vardy as Leicester looked for a home win but Mourinho’s men defended brilliantly. Former Manchester United defender, Chris Smalling went into a tackle against the Nigerian but went down clutching his face in pain. The referee was not persuaded by the elbow claims and Iheanacho escaped a red card which is usually awarded in such incidents.
In the Europa League, Joe Aribo played for 83 minutes while Calvin Bassey was involved for 90 minutes as Rangers fell 1-0 away to Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig courtesy a late goal from former Manchester City wing-back, Angelino.
The return leg will be played next Thursday at the Ibrox in Scotland.
