Iwobi named Player of the Match in Everton’s first win of the season

Alex Iwobi continued his outstanding form under Frank Lampard as he picked up the Player of the match Award following Everton’s 1-0 victory over West Ham United at Goodison Park.

The Super Eagles midfielder was involved for 90 minutes as the Toffees earned their first victory of the 2022/23 Premier League season and capped his performance with an assist.

The first half ended goalless but the home side increased the tempo in the second half and Iwobi played in new signing Neal Maupay, who coolly slotted past the Hammers goalkeeper, Lukasz Fabianski.

Speaking after the encounter, Iwobi said: ‘Hey Evertonians, we got the three points today. Hope to get more after the international break. See you soon.’

Everton move up to 13th on the premier league log with seven points while West Ham United drop into 18th with just four points after seven matches.
