Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has been named the prayer of the month for March, following his outstanding performance for Leicester City.
Senior man, as he’s fondly called stepped up after Harvey Barnes got injured, and the Nigerian has put up impressive performances for the Foxes both in the league and in the cup games.
In March, Iheanacho featured for Brendan Rodgers’ side three times, and he scored five goals in all, including a hat trick against Sheffield United.
The 24-year-old became a regular for Leicester City after James Maddison and Harvey Barnes got injured, and his partnership with Jamie Vardy has been impressive.
Speaking on Leicester website, Iheanacho said: “I feel great. It’s not easy to do, but I’m happy to win it for the first time in my career. I didn’t expect that, I wasn’t expecting it, but I thank God that it’s happening in my life. I’m really grateful and happy. Hopefully, I will keep working really hard to make sure there is more to come.”
The Super Eagles star beat Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez, Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, West Ham’s Jesse Lingard, Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, Manchester United defender Luke Shaw and Brighton’s Leandro Trossard to the award.
Do you think Iheanacho is now the first choice at Leicester?
