Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was in dreamland on Sunday as he scored his first professional goal in Sevilla’s 1-1 draw against Real Valladolid at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla.
Bono was beaten by Fabian Orellana’s penalty to give the host a first half lead. The host kept it tight and it was difficult for the away side to create chances even with the presence of former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
However, with Julen Lopetegui’s side desperate for a result they drew everyone forward in stoppage time and the Moroccan capitalized on some scrappy defending from Real Valladolid, kept his composure before smashing the ball home from some six yards out to give his side a 1-1 draw.
Interestingly, Bono’s goal drew immediate comparisons with Andres Palop, who scored a late goal for Sevilla against Shakhtar Donetsk in the 2006/07 UEFA Cup.
Eibar’s Marko Dmitrovic is the first goalkeeper to score in the La Liga when he netted a penalty against Atletico Madrid in January.
