Five-star Real Madrid thrash Shakhtar Donetsk away

Real Madrid put up a superb second half performance to thrash Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 away from home to get back on track. 

Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 37th minute thanks to a beautiful own goal, after captain, Sergey Krivitso lobbed his goalkeeper in an attempt to stop the ball from getting to Karim Benzema.

Just six minutes after the break, Real Madrid doubled the lead after Benzema stole the ball, and Luka Modric gave a brilliant pass to Vinicius Junior, who calmly finished past the onrushing goalkeeper.

Five minutes later, the young Brazilian got his brace, and Real Madrid’s third, after a change of play with Benzema, Vinicius dribbled past the wall of Shakhtar Donetsk, before blasting the ball into the net with his weak foot. 

Vinicius then turned provider in the 65th minute, after opening to space to receive a pass from Benzema, before sending a cut back pass to Rodrygo Goes, who fired a lovely shot into the net.

Karim Benzema finally got his goal at the death, scoring Real Madrid’s fifth goal, after Asensio’s dink pass was well controlled by the Frenchman, who placed the ball into the back of the net.

Real Madrid remain second on the log with six points, same with Sheriff, who lost 3-1 to Inter Milan, while Shakhtar Donetsk sit bottom of the log.
