Super Eagles legend, George Finidi is seeking the attention of Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola over the allocation of 3-bedroom houses to the 1994 senior male national team players, AllBallerZone (ABZ) can report.
Nigeria won the 1994 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Finidi heavily involved for the team but his name was conspicuously missing when presidential aide, Garba Shehu announced the list of players to recieve to reward.
Interestingly, Finidi’s name was listed alongside Uche Okafor, Daniel Amokachi, Austin Okocha, Edema Fuludu and Nduka Ugbade as players that had previously received their house gifts promised by the Federal Government led then by General Sani Abacha.
Speaking exclusively to ABZ, Finidi revealed: “I’ m trying to reach the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola on the matter.
“I did not receive any house from the government as claimed. It is definitely a mix up and I hope the minister helps to fix it because I know him to be a man concerned for the welfare of people.
” The government under President Muhammadu Buhari is all about integrity and I’m confident a solution will be found very soon. It’s refreshing to be rewarded for hardwork and I don’t want to miss out. That is why I have spoken out.”
Finidi was also part of the team that achieved Nigeria’s first ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup and has one of the most memorable Mundial celebrations after his goal helped the Super Eagles to a 2-0 victory over Greece.
