Euro 2020: Italy are champions after beating England

Italy beat England 3-2 on penalties to become champions of the 2020 European Championship after the game ended 1-1.

The two wing-backs combined to give England the first goal in the game after just two minutes, following a cross from Kieran Trippier to Luke Shaw to score the fastest goal in a European Championship final.

Italy pulled one back in the 67th minute after a corner kick wriggled its way to Leonardo Bonucci, who scored to become the oldest goalscorer in a European Championship final.

After 120 minutes of football, it went to penalties, and substitutes, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Nigerian-born Bukayo Saka all missed their takes, as the Italians came out victorious.

After losing heavily to Spain in the final of the 2012 European Championship, and missing out of the last FIFA World Cup Italy are now champions of the continent.
