Euro 2020: Bundesliga star helps Czech Republic defeat Scotland in opening game

Czech Republic have defeated Scotland in their opening Euro 2020 game.

Scotland lost the game courtesy of two goals from Bayer Leverkusen star, Patrik Schick.

Scott McTominay and Andy Robertson were in the starting lineup for Scotland, but could not ensure victory for their side.

The win puts Czech Republic top of Group D. The Three Lions of England are in second after their 1-0 win over Croatia on Sunday.

After the game, Scotland midfielder Stuart Armstrong said the following on BBC One: “It was a difficult one, the game was very compact, there wasn’t much space, and we were playing too many long balls for our liking. When we passed it, we did quite well but it was hard to break them down.

“Disappointed with the way the first goal went in, apart from that we defended pretty well, and they showed real qualify for the second goal. Not to say we didn’t have chances second-half, we did, and tried to push. They were clinical. At this level you do need to be clinical.”
