The Super Eagles of Nigeria continued with their impressive form at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations as they beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 to win 9 points.
Sadiq Umar, who was starting his first match for the Super Eagles scored the opening goal in the 54th minute, following a brilliant skill from Kelechi Iheanacho, who sends in a pass, and the Almeria striker tapped in from close range.
Arguably Nigeria’s best player at the AFCON, Moses Simon took on the entire Guinea-Bissau defense with beautiful skills before hitting the woodwork from close range in the 75th minute, before captain, William Troost-Ekong tapped in from close.
Nigeria, whose first place had already been secured before the game, have now won all their group matches for only the second time, and coach Austin Eguavoen is the only coach to help Nigeria win 9 points in their group matches at any AFCON. The first time it happened was in 2006, and ‘Cerezo’ was the coach in charge then. Guinea-Bissau, on the other hand, finished bottom of Group D with just 1 point.
