Borussia Dortmund are hopeful that Nnamdi Collins has not suffered a major knee injury after he went off against VfL Bochum during a pre-season friendly, ABZ can report.
The highly rated 17-year-old, who is eligible to play for Germany and Nigeria enjoyed a good game until his injury. However, the injury said to be a capsular one and Nnamdi is not expected to be out for a long time.
Nnamdi is expected to travel to Bad Ragaz for Borussia Dortmund’s training camp with the rest of the first team squad next Friday but the result of his MRI examination on Monday will give the club clarity about the injury.
Dortmund manager, Marco Rose will be hoping Nnamdi returns to action as soon as possible as the team is already light in the centre-back department with Dan-Axel Zagadou and Soumaila Coulibaly set to miss the start of the new season, while Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji hasn’t resumed training after the Euro 2020 and may not be fit enough for the beginning of the new campaign.
Dortmund finished runner-up during the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season and will hope to beat Bayern Munich to the title this term.
