Denmark continue their remarkable run at the Euro 2020 as they became the first team to reach the quarter finals of the competition.
The Danes hammered 10-man Wales 4-0 courtesy a brace from Kasper Dolberg and one each from Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite.
Interestingly, the Dane’s lost their first two matches of the tournament and were heading for exit especially after the collapse of star man Christian Eriksen but that incident inspired them as they beat Russia 4-1 in their final group game to qualify for the round of 16.
Wales finished second in Group A and were confident of getting a result against Denmark and had a shot from Gareth Bale flew past goal with Aaron Ramsey running the midfield in the early exchanges.
However, the game turned on its head when Mikkel Damsgaard played in former Ajax star Kasper Dolberg and he finished brilliantly from the edge of the box to give Denmark a first half lead. He continued from where he stopped as he netted a second to extend the lead.
Joakim Maehle made it 3-0 when he received the ball from Mathias Jensen on the right – he cut inside Ben Davis before rifling in a left foot shot. Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite made it 4-0 and sent the Danes into the quarter finals as they became the first team to score four goals in consecutive matches in the competition history. Wales finished the game with 10-man as Harry Wilson was shown a straight red card for a tired tackle late in the second half.
