Kelechi Iheanacho won the battle of assists during Leicester City’s 4-3 victory over Victor Moses’ Spartak Moscow in a Europa League encounter inside the Otkrytiye Arena on Wednesday.
Zambian international, Patson Daka took the plaudits as he scored all four goals for the Foxes but it was the Nigerian that made it largely possible after he provided two assists for his strike partner in the rampaging win.
Leicester City fell behind to an 11th minute strike by Aleksandr Sobolev and went two goals down when Jordan Larsson finished a brilliant pass from former Super Eagles winger, Victor Moses but Daka’s first goal in Europe for the Foxes off an Iheanacho pass made it 2-1 at the interval.
The premier league side came out the stronger of the two sides in the second half and deservedly equalised in almost the same fashion as the first goal as Iheanacho, again, played in Daka and he coolly slotted past Aleksandar Maksimenko in goal for the home side.
Daka grabbed his hat-trick after receiving a well-timed pass from Youri Tielemans and scored with aplomb to make it 3-2. The Zambian then netted his fourth goal to make it 4-2 but Moses ensured for a nervy finish to the game for the away side as his pass was finished off by Sobolev to bring the score to 4-3. However, Leicester held on for the all important three points and their first win in the 2021/22 Europa League.
Iheanacho and Moses played for 90minutes and would have enjoyed registering two assists respectively in the 7-goal thriller.
