Argentina will be without Sergio Aguero for the Qatar 2022 World Cup as the Barcelona striker is set to announce his retirement from football.

Aguero has not played since he walked off the pitch in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw against Alaves at the start of November due to heart complications.
After undergoing a test it was revealed that he had cardiac arrhythmia, and was asked to take a break from football for three months.

However, according to Gerard Moreno, the condition is worse than originally feared, and Aguero will have to retire from football.
Although Barcelona have not released an official statement, it is believed that a press conference has been scheduled for next week, where Aguero will announce his retirement.

The sad news all but ends his hopes of playing for Argentina at next year’s World Cup. The two-time World Champions already secured their place in Qatar following their goalless draw with Brazil in the last international break.
