Brazilian winger, Lucas Alves has revealed his intention in changing his nationality from Brazil to Nigeria, as he admires and wants to play for the Super Eagles.
The 24-year-old, who joined Kwara United in October 2020 from American club side Seahorses, has never hidden his admiration for Nigeria, saying he watches the Super Eagles matches, and he enjoys them.
In a chat with THE PUNCH, Alves said: “I have been watching Nigerian national team matches and I do enjoy them. It won’t be out of place for me to switch nationality and maybe play for Nigeria.”
He added: “I love the country and I would like to get an invitation to play for the Super Eagles soon. It would be great to play for Nigeria. I know there are a lot of quality players and competition in my position and every other position but I am not bothered by that because it is part of my job.”
The Brazilian also revealed his favourite Super Eagles player. He said: “Henry Onyekuru is my favourite among the Eagles players and maybe that has to do with the fact that we play in the same position.”
Do you think Nigeria should invite Alves?
