Europe’s elite clubs – Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Porto and Real Madrid all return to footballing action in Europe’s premium club competition in hopes of lifting the coveted holy grail at the crescendo of the season later in May.
The quarter-finals stage of the competition kicks off this Tuesday, with the quadruple of Madrid, Liverpool, Man City and Dortmund squaring off against each other with intentions of a first-leg advantage. But how can you convert this expected Champions League excitement into some sort of monetary gain by betting on the quarter-final games?
REAL MADRID vs LIVERPOOL
A repeat of the 2017-18’s final which the Los Blancos beat Liverpool 3-1, two of the most successful teams in the history of the European Cup will on Tuesday, lock horns in the Spanish capital.
Having locked horns on six previous occasions in European football, with the head-to-head record looking pretty identical – both sides winning three and losing three, Liverpool would hope to replicate their regained form in the Champions League.
A 3-0 away victory over Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend means Jurgen Klopp’s lads could be lethal in yet another away fixture.
Madrid has also been finding their groove, though, winning four of their last six games in all competitions – drawing the other two. Expect fireworks in this game.
WE SAY: It’s a dicey one going for a winner. It’s better to go for either option of REAL MADRID DOUBLE CHANCE, or BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE.
MANCHESTER CITY vs BORUSSIA DORTMUND
City’s boss, Pep Guardiola, and Dortmund forward, Erling Haaland would both be at the focal point of attention as the former English and German champions clash at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Citizens easily overcame another German side, Borussia Monchengladbach to advance to the last eight, while Dortmund made hard work of their battle with Sevilla, eventually getting over the line.
But would a Dortmund attack led by prolific 20-year old Haaland be able to shut out one of his many admirers – Guardiola, whose only unaccomplished task at Man City is to win the Champions League?
City stands a better chance of picking the all-important win on Tuesday considering their imperious Champions League form, 5 wins in their last 6 games, the other, their only draw in the group stages with Porto. Dortmund on the other hand would be relying on Haaland who have scored 10 goals in the Champions League for them this season, to bring his A-game tonight.
WE SAY: Dortmund could score a goal, but it would not be enough. MAN CITY WIN AND OVER 1.5 or MAN CITY WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE should do.
