Real Madrid have tough tasks in the next two weeks as they will face off with Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League and Barcelona in the La Liga, but captain, Sergio Ramos is set to miss those game, after picking up an injury on international duty.
‘El Capitano’ came on late in the second half to make his 180th appearances for La Roja in the World Cup Qualifying match against Kosovo, and he said he felt some problems after the game.
After the clash, Ramos took to his Instagram and said: “After the game, I was training on the pitch and I noticed a pain in my left calf. If there is something that hurts me, it is not being able to help the team in these highly demanding matches we have to play this season.”
Defending champions of La Liga, Real Madrid also confirmed the captain’s injury in a statement that reads: “He [Ramos] has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the internal calf in his left leg. His recovery will be monitored,”
Los Blancos will host Liverpool at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium on Tuesday, 6th of April in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal, and will travel to Anfield on Wednesday, 14th of April.
The second Clasico of the season will be played on the 10th of April at the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium, in a game that could define the Merengues’ season, and they will have to find a way to win without their captain.
Real Madrid’s long-serving defender, Nacho Hernandez has been a good backup defender for Ramos, and he is expected to be his replacement for those games.
