Union Berlin forward, Taiwo Awoniyi is confident that the Super Eagles will deliver at the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
The former Liverpool star was one of the early arrivals to the camp in Abuja and has been sweating it out under the watchful eyes of interim Coach Austin Eguavoen.
Speaking after Saturday’s training session, Awoniyi said: “For us, its just to get ready for the Cup and do our best for the country. We just finished another training session and we are getting there step by step and hopefully when the time comes, we would deliver for the country.”
Ask about training so far, he replied: “Its been great sessions. We train twice daily since we resumed camp. With different drills to help us get into rhythm and prepared for the games.”
Nigeria will play in Group D alongside Egypt, Guinea-Bissau, and Sudan and will begin her campaign against the Pharaohs at Roumde Adjia Stadium on January 11.
